As part of its commitment to strengthening technical and vocational education in Yemen, Al-Awn Foundation for Development, in partnership with Sheikh Abdullah Al Nouri Charity Society, has supported the successful completion of an advanced international training program for the specialized Refrigeration and Air Conditioning teaching staff of Seiyun Community College.
Hosted by the Jordan Engineers Association – Engineers Training and Development Academy in Amman, Jordan, the program was implemented under the Technical and Vocational Education Development Project for Seiyun Community College. It reflects a shared vision of investing in human capital and equipping educational institutions with the expertise needed to prepare a skilled workforce for the evolving labor market.
The intensive program included 55 hours of specialized technical training and 15 hours of field visits and practical studies, providing participants with advanced competencies in HVAC system design in accordance with ASHRAE standards. The curriculum covered cooling load calculations, engineering drawing interpretation, equipment selection, advanced design software, and real-world engineering case studies, complemented by technical visits to industrial facilities and engineering projects. The training also serves as preparatory coursework for the internationally recognized ASHRAE Certified HVAC Designer certification.
The program was delivered by Eng. Khaled Mohammed Al-Taslaq, a professional engineering consultant with extensive expertise in engineering design and project management, ensuring that participants gained practical knowledge aligned with international industry standards.
The closing ceremony celebrated the participants' achievements in the presence of representatives from the Jordan Engineers Association, the Engineers Training and Development Academy, the project management team, and the implementing partners, highlighting the collaborative efforts that made the initiative possible.
The true impact of the program begins after the training. The knowledge and practical skills acquired by the teaching staff will be transferred directly into classrooms and training workshops, enabling more practice-oriented instruction, modernized curricula, and learning environments that better reflect labor market needs. Ultimately, this investment is expected to improve the quality of technical education and equip future graduates with competitive, industry-relevant skills that contribute to Yemen's economic and social development.
The initiative is funded by Al-Awn Foundation for Development and Sheikh Abdullah Al Nouri Charity Society, under the supervision of the Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training and implemented by Nebras For Development, as part of a long-term commitment to advancing technical education, strengthening institutional capacity, and creating sustainable opportunities for young people.
