Supported by Al-Awn Foundation for Development, Student Forum in Mukalla Promotes Technical and Vocational Education

Mukalla – Volunteer Foundation organized a student forum on technical education in Mukalla, funded by Al-Awn Foundation for Development, with the participation of 120 students from secondary schools across the Hadramout Coast, coinciding with the start of the new school year.

The forum aimed to help change common perceptions of technical and vocational education, strengthen its role and position within the community, and raise students’ awareness of the importance of technical education and its role in meeting labor market needs.

The forum included several activities, including discussion sessions on the importance of technical and vocational education, an exhibition introducing different vocational specialties, and field visits to technical institutes. These visits gave students an opportunity to learn directly about available specialties and training opportunities.

The forum was attended by Dr. Waleed Al-Attas, Deputy Governor of Hadramout for Financial and Administrative Affairs; Dr. Murad Baalawi, Assistant Deputy Governor of Hadramout for Youth Affairs and Civil Society Organizations; Khaled Balfas, Deputy Director General of the Technical Education and Vocational Training Office in the Hadramout Coast; Fayad Baamer, Director General of Mukalla District; Majdi Bu Abbes, Deputy Director General of the Hadramout Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Mohammed Al-Khamer, Executive Director of Volunteer Foundation; and Eng. Shehab Al-Saqqaf, Programs and Projects Specialist at Al-Awn Foundation for Development, along with a number of officials and community representatives.
