Al-Awn Foundation for Development Concludes Scientific Day for Dentistry in Mukalla as Part of the 'Days of Giving' Initiative

As part of its commitment to supporting youth initiatives and enhancing the societal impact of the programs it sponsors, Al-Awn Foundation for Development concluded the Scientific Day for Dentistry in the city of Mukalla under the title:
"Dentistry: Between Infection and Comprehensive Treatment."

The event is part of the (Days of Giving) initiative, implemented by graduates of the "Nohal – Leaders of the New Horizon" program, led by Dr. Faiz Saleh Al-Hamed, a distinguished graduate of the same program. The initiative is funded by Al-Awn Foundation for Development and implemented by the Horizon Leaders Foundation for Youth Capacity Development, in collaboration with the Yemeni Dental Association – Hadramout Branch.

The event witnessed the presence of prominent academic and medical figures, including Dr. Abdallah Bin Othman, Executive Director of Al-Awn Foundation, and Dr. Ali Bawazir, Head of the Yemeni Dental Association in Hadramout, alongside a group of dentists, students, and those interested in the dental field.

The Scientific Day featured three specialized lectures focusing on core topics in dental practice:

  • Principles of managing odontogenic infections

  • Use of antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory medications in dentistry

  • The relationship between systemic diseases and dental health

The sessions were led by Dr. Faiz Al-Hamed, Assistant Professor of Oral Surgery at Qatar University, who holds a PhD in Craniofacial Sciences from McGill University in Canada. He has published over 20 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and received several prestigious research awards, exemplifying the outstanding scientific caliber of Nohal program graduates.

It is worth noting that Dr. Faiz also provided free medical clinics in Mukalla and Al-Hajreen during the past days as part of the (Days of Giving) initiative, reflecting the spirit and goals of community service.

The (Days of Giving) initiative is one of the key outcomes of the Nohal program, aiming to activate the role of specialized youth in serving their communities. It enables them to transfer their knowledge and skills to the field through scientific and voluntary activities that promote awareness, disseminate knowledge, and embody the program's values in practical and humanitarian ways.

Al-Awn Foundation for Development reaffirms its ongoing commitment to supporting impactful programs and initiatives that contribute to human development and empower local talents to serve their communities effectively and sustainably.
